Have around $5000 to spend on truck... Suggestions/Opinions Needed

So like the title says, ive got $5000 to spend on the truck. Nothing is neglected just put new everything on it in terms of matinence.

But I do need,

-Spray on bedliner $450
-Cap for the box $1000
-new tool box $250
-Insurance deductable to repair busted up fender (Hit by forklift) $500

so i guess i only have $3800 for goodies.

I was thinking

Guages (Boost,EGT,Trans,Fuel) $600?
4" Straight Pipe exhaust $270
5" Tip $50
Comp (Not sure which one yet) $450?
Turbo Timer $100

Thats really all I am looking into doing to it at the moment with a stock trans, the sad part is that its like 1/2 my budget and I feel like I need to do more but I use my truck for work so I dont want to slowly destroy the trans.

Do you guys think that a comp, lets say an EZ un-tapped is about the max my trans will hold upto on a daily driver basis? (im not going to beat on it but it may see WOT every now and then)

Given the same situation what would you suggest I spend the money on interms of upgrades?

what do you guys think about a propane system or could I get any decent transmission upgrades for the money I have left, give or take a few hundred dollars im sure i will spend on new speakers?

any suggestions would help

Thanks, James

Get gauges to the tune of $400, a torque converter and valve body for $1800, a Comp $550, the exhaust, and have fun.

comp--- or edge ez/van aaken and mach 1's
torque converter
valve body
exhaust
turbo upgrade- maybe pdr hx35-40 hybrid
sell hy35 for a couple hundred bucks

I think this would be a great combo for towing and fuel mileage. It sure is fun to play with other people's money

Put a VB and triple disc TC in after the gauges. Then do exhaust, intake, and a Edge Comp, and you will be having fun for a while. I would also get a pusher pump too though.

I second doing the tranny first. Nothing more aggravating than adding power and having to stop only cause the tranny will not hold anymore, which is right wehre I am at.

Do the math again. You'd have $2800, not $3800.

For that money, I'd do:
Gauges! ($variable)
Mach 4 injectors ($900)
Scheid boost fooler ($70)
TC/Valve body ($all the rest)

Later, you can finish off the tranny, then sell your BF andbuy a TST pmax or Edge Comp.

I would go....
Guages( have to see whats going on and can prevent $$$$ damage down the road)
exhaust and air filter upgrade ( cheap and will help with your HP number and EGT. all mods should start with the air in and out on a turbo diesel, low EGT are very important. back to the guage!
Trans upgrade TC and valve body, and rebuild if high miles(soon as you up the HP your trans will start to slip, HP exposes trans week links and DO IT WHILE YOU HAVE THE CASH!)
Injectors ( cheap good HP, comp and a stocks trans = rebuild )
That should tap all your funds. just my 2 cents.

I figure, TC and Valve and I can pretty much be safe when I decide to play with it?

Get the 4 gauges, then get the exhaust, scotty 2 intake, DTT valve body, then comp. Or, gauges, exhaust, intake, comp in EZ mode, 275 injectors. I ran the second combination for a year and beat the tar out of it and the tranny never missed a beat. EGT's never went above 1200*. It was great. Now I'm running the first combination with the 275 injectors and the tranny is holding great with the new valve body. Only problem now though is my EGT's get pretty hot if I turn the comp all the way up.

Depends on the position of the throttle. Before I tapped the wire I could knock down 20mpg on the freeway. Now, I'm lucky to get 13. It's gotta be the weather. It can't be my right foot.
