guage install
Just purchased pillar mount pyro, boost, fuel pressure guages for 2001. Was wondering if anyone had any tips or warnings as to what to do or not to do!!! Only thing I'm not sure about is the boost guage no idea where that thing hooks up.
I'm guessing I will figure it out but any input would be great Thanks, Todd

There are a couple options for the boost hookup.
You can go this route:

or this one

That's where mine is tapped.

Remove the plug, drill and tap it, reinsert.
Or this one:

Replacement intake bolt, hollowed out for boost hookup.
Picture might be a 3rd gen though, but the bolt exists for 2nd gen's
Top 2 are the easiest, imho.

Todd, I just installed mine recently, and it was actually quite easy. I'll get some pics posted this week, but for the boost gauge, I drilled and tapped just below where the dipstick tube goes over the intake horn....just like the 2nd pic above.
Are you going to use an isolator on the FP gauge? I'd recommend against that, just from reading previous posts (search button). I went with no isolator, but I did install a needle valve inline. So far so good with the gauges...no wierd noises, leaks, fumes, or rattles.....just keep an eye on the road too
Another tip I used that worked well was to attach everything under the hood, run it through the firewall, then start hooking up to the gauges, don't go the opposite direction. Also, leave enough slack so you can pull a gauge from the pillar to change a bulb, or to drop the whole pillar down and still have access to the back of the gauges.

Here is one other question for you all. will all theracouple probes be able to take the heat if you go for pre, i've just got myself an autometer set up, boost, pryo etc; all mechanical. Is pre alright or is it better to go post, and i haven't quite figured out the oil pressure connection yet, any clues???
