GSK Problem

I am looking for some info.. I have a buddy here, bought a 96 12 valve cummins, it has a few mods, like a 10 plate and bhaf. nothing much,, Now he wants to put in a GSK kit in it,, and he took out the springs including the large one and never measured the stock position before he took them out. Does anyone here know approx what the factory settings would be? Looking for a baseline to start with. I have read 6 and 1/2 turns is close. ANy help would be appreciated. Thanks in Advance

You have the same year truck, might have to take your plate out and measure yours to be sure. I set mine back to the stock measurement and the truck wouldnt even start. Had to tighten the new springs beyond stock setting to get it right.

Thanks ,,,but neither my 2 trucks are home right now,,and being both have the GWK washer way they were set to .040 to get them to run good. I am planning on swapping both out to the GSK springs.. as I dont like the touchy pedal, and drove one with the springs and it seems alot better,, but maybe its just me LOL

the city diesel instructions say .07 or .06 can't remember which one for the stock position. Just get both gsk nuts close to that mark, and check the idle of the truck. It'll be easy to adjust don't worry about it. If the idle is to high, back of a click or 2 (mine idled at 1100 after I installed the gsk kit, so i backed both nuts off 2 clicks (1/2 turn) and it droped the idle to 750 for a reference) If ur truck won't start, tighten both nuts 2 clicks and repeat as neccessary until u get ur idle where u want it around 750-800.

Thanks for the help. I did set them to .060 and when it started it was idling around 1100,,, so I will try and back them off 2 clicks and see how that works. I have been reading alot on this today and seen if to tight it wont start easy to and with mine at .060 it starts but takes 2-3 seconds,, so that to tells me they are to tight. Oh well tomorrow is a new day and now the guy wants the plate ground to a 100 to, so can adjust them when i have the plate out.

Thanks again for the quick help,,I appreciate it, and from the way this truck runs,, I will be ordering 2 gsk kits for my trucks,, i like them alot better than the washer way of doing it now. I wont put the washer version down as it does work,, only with the springs all seems smoother.
