GSK MOD - Can I make my 3K kit into a 4K or more?
I have a 3K kit in now. After my injection pump rebuild the truck only revs to 2850-2950. Used to go to 3150-3200. So I was thinking about turning each spring one click. But if I am going in there can I make my 3K spring kit into a 4K or even a 4500K with out having to get a complete new GSK kit? When I had the injection pump built I installed the heavier valve springs in case I wanted to go with a exhaust brake or 4K so it is time for some more revs....

Thanks Eric. My truck before the 3K would only go to about 2100 RPMS. So I am assuming the 3K is still in there and it might just need an extra click. I will check out Piers. Any links to what I should have in there for a 3K kit when I pull it out? And do you have a link for the additional 4K spring at Piers? I can not find it on their site? And how does your truck run with the 4K spring kit?
Thanks.

Here is a link to a picture of a 3k.

You have 2 bigger springs, and 2 smaller springs. you put a big one, and a small one on both sides. The small one sits inside the bigger one, which also sits inside your factory idle spring. And it also has the new little seat that will go under the spring pack(first thing to go in the pump). So basically with a 3k, you should have the factory idle spring, the bigger spring of the kit inside of that, and then the smaller spring of the kit inside of that. Its kind of hard to tell the difference in a 3k, and a stock set if you dont have much experience, but if the spring seat looks like the one in the picture, then its probably a 3k kit. The 4k is just an additional 2 springs(one per side), that adds a small spring to the inside of each spring pack.
I really like the 4k in my truck. It definately fuels harder than the 3k. My EGT's went up just a little actually, because it is fueling harder, even down low. So far I am really happy with the swap.
As for getting the inner spring for the 4k kit from piers. They dont list it on their web page, so just call them and tell them you have the 3k, and want the extra springs to make it a 4k, and they will send ya one out.

spring kit
Thanks again Eric..... So basically just replace the inner 3k spring with the 4K inner spring? Sound good. I did my 3K about 2 years ago so it's not very fresh in my mind with only one installation under my belt.

No problem man. Sorry, guess i didnt make it clear, but NONE of the springs that are already in there will come out. There are just 2 smaller springs(they are pretty small) that fit inside all the springs you already have in there. So one more spring per side goes in. If you are confused about anything, just ask! Sometimes its hard to explain this stuff![Laughing](https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/forums/images/smilies/laughing.gif)
