GSK 3 or 4
I am thinking about getting a Mechanical Governor Spring Kit either the 3k or the 4k. My truck tops out around 90 mph and i was wondering if that’s normal for my truck. By getting the Spring Kit would it affect my top speed. Is it really a big difference in performance?

That pretty good with stock springs....Get the springs...You would not believe the increase in performance...Buy the 4k, and if you want a 3K,just remove one spring.....Don't know how to make a 3k into a 4K because I don't know where you could get the extra spring...

they do sell the extra springs for about 20 bucks but i cant remember which site they are on. the gov. springs do affect top end (mine went from 95 mph to 120 which is as far as id let it go). removing one spring on a system designed for 2 sounds like a recipe for disaster but thats just me. remember this though with the added rpm comes added heat up top and on a stock turbo it doesnt take much to have that thing hit 1500 degrees with just a small plate no matter how much boost you have

THanks for the input.
Is it hard to install at the house, or do i need to take it to a shop. I replaced the clutch about 6 months ago with a factory clutch, am i going to need a high performance clutch?

gsk's are easy do the 4k kit. it will take 2 hours max. no special tools (a magnet to get the springs out is nice and a pick for the shims is all you need besided sockets) i counted the turns on the retaining nut instead of a measurement on 3 trucks and it worked great. your stock clutch might not like the gsk in combination with more boost but you can at least get to the point of slipping and control the power with your foot til you can upgrade the clutch.

Anywhere that sells GSK's should be able to sell the two small springs to make your 3 into a 4. Might want to look into replacement valve springs at that point as well.
