GS3K + transmission questions
Ive got a 95 CTD with TST #6, AFC spring intalled. Wonder what benefit you get from the GS3K install and whether its a good idea for my stock auto.
Ive had some folks tell me an aftermarket valve body is a good idea, and other folks tell me its bad since its on a high-mileage transmission and it could kill some old seals.
Is locking the TCC manually with a switch good for extending the transmission life or does this tend to dirty the oil with clutch material?
Lastly, does anyone know if theres a flash update for the transmission controller available if I hit a dealership? Ive had some hunting and shifting up under load (as if the clutch wasnt disengaged fully on a manual) as well as some other weirdness Id guess was the TCC not being engaged cleanly on lockup. I havent looked at the TPS yet but thats next. Might try opening that up and cleaning it out.

Im also a bit worried about the GS3K + #6 plate combo. Ive heard a couple things.. something about the governor arm adjustment and something about a lack of needed defueling. What does the #10 plate do for HP/torque in the 95 auto?

You will love the GSK. It really helps to make use of the stock converters high stall speed. It will be fine with the #6 plate; just watch your EGT's, and you may need to adjust the governor lever arm as mentioned . As far as the VB goes. If your tranny is doing pretty well right now; a VB shouldnt hurt anything. I talked to Dave Goerend about a VB for my tranny(130k plus miles), and he said if it is acting fine right now, then i should have no problems. He said if it DID cause problems then i would most likley have problems pretty soon anyway wether i had added the VB or not. The trannies do about 250psi in reverse, and in drive Daves valve body applies about 180psi, so the seals are made to hold the pressure anyways. A VB would really help your truck out. I would go for it if i were you. Good luck.
