I see nothing wrong with grinding something youve already paid for.

I think the point got muttled in the exchange.

I am all for invention, adaptation and alteration.. I just think some respect should be paid to those that worked to develop an already "known" product.

If you want to grind trial and error, no problem.. You have a better profile? Great. But I was a little miffed in asking to have the profile for an already developed product for free.

I looked at the plate myself and thought of how to mill a different plate, however do I have a dyno, unlimited time and a $100K milling machine. NO on all fronts. So I guess I am going to follow the other "Kitty's" and pay for plate that has a published HP/TQ rating and tested profile.

Out.

Good grief...

If I can look at someone else's product and figure out how to make it myself - I have no shame or guilt about doing so for my own use and consumption.

I purchased a used #10 plate, but I think if I had known the profile I would have ground it myself. As a matter of fact, if I ever get the time, you might just see a #10 plate for sale for a discounted price some day

Good advice!
I suggest we take it to heart and move on.

Yea, I know. I have the same "problem" when I try to post something too. I understand what it is you want, however I don't have the knowledge to share with you.

Post My summation

If you were to use other industrys or technology for comparison, 7 years is a common limit to the restriction of use of new ideas or technology. So fuel plates fabricated, whether from copying plates already developed, or just eye-ball winging it, are old news at this point.
I do want it known that I respect the rights of intellectual property of others while it remains current or extant. I have had my intellectual property stolen and sold by an unscrupulous corporation. You'd be amazed if you knew who. I also have technology that's not for publication. There are binary files that constitute the fuel and timing maps for engines with electronic controls. I have many. Those are not for publication or common use.
My objection from the outset was the blanket statement that someone grinding their own fuel plate was somehow "stealing" this "highly valuable technology" from the originators of it. That is simply not true. Those without the inclination or wherewithall to create thier own components can buy fuel plates from a variety of sources. I have none to sell, nor plans to sell any. Those that simply want to know what they look like, can find out from any number of sources. I did.
