Grinding my own fuel plate?? 12 V

I have read a few times that I could save money and grind my own fuel plate.... How does one go about that? Is there a post that describes this in full? The whole fuel plate and sliding it up and general pump stuff has me wondering... I have a 96 12V Auto trans and 105K on it. I am all about free power!

What are you looking to do with the truck???? IMO the biggest bang for the buck is doing the transmission first, the stock trans wont take too much before it starts to slip. If you get a good tq converter and valvebody it will feel like a different truck. Your trans with 105k may need a good rebuild. Install a good set of guages, then you can cut(or take out) your plate mod the afc, install a different rack plug, bigger turbo or twins, better injectors.Once you start mods its hard to stop

Gauges before fuel

I did mine with my angle grinder and smoothed it with an old stone, took 20 minutes total.

I wouldn't run without a plate, do a search on what can happen.

A broken pin from running with out a plate is just a myth.......a wives-tale to keep people frome removing them and giving p pumps a bad name. That came straight from the local pump shop......and he's been building pumps for a very long time. He took the plate out of my dads truck back in 97 and today the truck has 346k on it and never has had a problem. If people knew they could just remove the plates, there would'nt an aftermarket for them.

I wanna take my plate out just for a test drive to see what kinda difference there is. The people that say it can get caught up and break the pin, what does it get caught on?

Whoaaa Logskidder! hahaha Just want to tweak it a bit for now. Nothing more then the stock trans can handle, which should seem like a rocket compared to stock. I am strating to gather stuff to sell on eBay to raise some funds for a converter, maybe a valve body upgrade. I've got the boost gauge, Shopping for the Pyro and trans temp. Have to cure that pesking heat exchanger leak... trans fluid everywhere! Anyone know if 24 valve and 12 heat exchanger will interchange? Same thing only different! Thanks for all the info folks! keep it coming!!
