Got a question

Hey I dunno if this is the right thread to post in but if its not feel free to move it. I am wanting to buy a 94-98 12 valve cummins. I would really like a 98 quad cab short bed but if I cant find one anything will work. But I plan on turning it up and adding some aftermarket stuff to it and I just wanted to hear from you guys on what I should look for. I know about the 53 block on the 98's but I dont know where to look for that. So I guess what I am asking is for help to pick out what year the next truck should be or what to look for. Then once I get one I will be asking you guys again about some Mods. Ha. Thanks in advance.

Cool. I found a 96 quad cab long bed 4x4 5 speed manual with 160000 miles on it for 8400. Do you guys think that is a good price. It is a good looking truck but I am just not a fan of long beds. I know a guy who is wanting to get rid of his 98 quad cab short bed 12 valve but he is saying no less than 11000. It has 218000 miles and its a little beat up. THis other one looks nice and as you stated its got the best pump on it. I am just leary about the 53 blocks. ANy idea how to look to see if its one or not. Thanks

There is a stamp on the underside of the block, I believe it is on the driver side, front. It is in a recessed square. If the engine is clean, you'll see it. otherwise you may have to scrape a bit.

Do you guys think that is a good price.
Most '96s with that many miles go for $4-6000.
It would have to be in excellent condition for $8400.
By excellent I mean not a scratch or ding, perfect interior and all new front end components.
