got my fp gauge in finally and only 1 psi
My fuel pressure gauge finally came today. I installed it primed the system and started the truck and to my surprise I only had 1 psi on the gauge. I thought ok maybe I there is some air in the system took it for a test drive and no change cept at WOT when it dropped to .5 psi. Of course my 30 day warranty ran out Sat. Oh I forgot I am using an Autometer electic fp gauge. I don't think the gauge is bad I am asuming it is a dead LP. So I am gonna sit down and do some readin to figure out what pump I am gonna replace it with or go stock. If you guys got any ideas feel free to toss them my way. I only hope it didn't hurt the Vp44.

Maybe this would be a good time to put in the Scotty's smart fuel sytem I have been lookin at.

ok I think I am gonna go with the carter 4601hp and the Scotty's. Anyone know where I can get the 3/8 aeroquip fittings for the pump since Scotty's kit is set up for the stock LP
P.S. I tapped my fp gauge into the bottom of the filter.

When I bought my truck I could never really hear the LP running and just figured it was quiet and you couldnt hear it. After about 35,000 miles I started to bomb and when I finally put a FP gauge on it and checked the pressure it was bouncing between 0 and 1 Psi. Obviously, I figured the Lift Pump failed and changed it. After I changed it I could hear it, so now I know that it was dead for at least as long as I had the truck (25,000 Miles) and who knows how long before that (truck had 75 k on it when I bought it). I have since upgraded to a Holley Blue and I now have another 20,000 Miles on the truck since then (120k total), same injection pump, no problems. Points of this story: A: Yes, get a FP gauge or check it regularily with a pocket guage on the schraeder fitting, and B: No, the sky is not necessarily falling. Dont do anything rash with your injection pump. It might be fine for quite a while. Ther are lots of VP failure stories on here mere 'nanoseconds' after the LP failed, but mine was not one of them.

That sux.....install a new LP right away.....I wouldn't even drive the truck until a new LP is on. If you are going with a 4601 all you need are 2 male 3/8" pipe to -8 JIC male hydraulic fitting adaptors to be able to use the Smartfuel on the 4601.

Did I understand correctly that you just bought the truck? You might try to talk to the folks that sold you the truck. It's likely they sold it to you with a bad lift pump and if they do any checking on their vehicles at all they knew it was bad. I'd put a little pressure on and see if they won't at least help with the repair.

I tried talking to the dealer no luck. Anyway I changed the fuel filter today and got 1.5 psi. So I am not driving it gonna beat the Hyundai a bit more till my new LP gets here. I figure if the VP goes it goes I'll deal with that if/when it happens. Thanks for the responses guys.
