Drive it in stock form. If it does what you want leave it be. Other than that my feelings are that an EZ (or comp, not tapped) is about the easiest add on and will net you some extra pulling power and improved drivability. Anything in addtion to that will put you in the gray area on your trans, especially the lock up clutch in the converter (again, just an opinion from Nobody). I had the means and way to build another trans while I did my mods so it kept the costs down plus I was able to just r/r it. Went with a triple clutch converter (overkill, but will be ready for whatever I can throw at it) and it works great.
Used Edge EZ...$125
Used RV injectors...$200
built my own trans...$1400
truck pulls my toys to my satisfaction.

Hey Sonnys, If you remove the silencer ring, you will hear turbo whistle really well. I like it but my wife says it gives her a headache on trips, so I just make sure I have tylenol on hand.

I've got a '99 2500 auto with 3:55 gears and I just put an Edge Comp on it a couple weeks ago without tapping the pump wire. I can get 60hp over stock with it setup like this but it's alot more responsive in the lower rpm range now. The downside is now I'd like even more power but that will have to wait until I do some transmission work. It seems like these transmissions will handle about 40hp over stock with a good driver before stuff starts to break and with the Comp you can shut it off for towing if you'd like. I haven't done much towing yet but from what I've seen so far the Comp has lowered my egt's a little bit.

I have a 01 ctd with a auto tranny. I dynoed at 523hp and 1152tq and thats without my water/meth being on an a stock turbo. Its my everyday work truck and Ive been hooking it to the sled quite often, and im just now begining to have problems with the stock TQ. Im very impressed with how long it has lasted, so i wouldnt be concerned about a mild chip for your towing needs.
01 Dodge CTD ext cab long bed, 120hp quadzilla XZT, diablo powerpuck, fass 150gph, 155hp BD injectors, boost, egt, tranny temp, fuel pressure gauges, snow perf water/meth, green perf filter, 6in SS stacks, 2in leveling kit, ranchhand frt bumper, 16x10 classic locks, 305/70/16 procomp MT. Soon to come...goreands billet TQ w/tripple disc clutch an valve body, ATS copilot, and a bigger turbo, maybe twins!

Sonnys, your truck and tranny will last fine if in stock form. When you turn it up, not if, you will want to do a high pressure valvebody and a better torque converter so you can put more power to the ground. Many claim that those two things make an other wise stock truck feel like a whole new animal.
