Got the lift in

Well, I finally got the lift in but it looks like I may have to send the front coils back. They shipped me the D50 coils and according to skyjacker's instructions, I need the D45. The cummins has a wider spring and higher spring rate.

Also just found out that I have the camper package/towing package and the u-bolts they sent with the kit aren't even as long as my stock u-bolts. Can I remove the two extra leafs that make the truck a camper package or should I leave them in there? I'm never gonna put a camper on my truck and I don't tow anything worth mentioning (2K max). Do yall think that will be alright? I got the rear add a leafs with this kit.

I'm driving back home tomorrow to get the springs swapped out. 4 wheels parts is being more than helpful on this so I got nothing bad to say about them.

Thanks for the help yall. I can't wait to get this stuff put on.

I removed the overload springs on my truck without a problem. I did have a problem with the Skyjacker add-a-leafs though. I originally had D25's in the front along with Skyjacker's "2 inch" leaf. I didn't like how it looked so I put in the 4.5" leafs. A year later I swapped the Skyjacker leafs for some true 2" Rancho leafs, and when I did, I found that one of the Skyjacker leafs was cracked right through at the center bolt. My truck is not usually loaded heavy, the most it saw with those leafs is about 3000lbs, and that was only once for a short trip. Also the truck had no noticable lean or any other indication that the leaf was cracked.

When I got my 4.5" lift from 4 Wheel Parts for my 99, they factored in the overloads when ordering the kit. I would discuss this with them so that you get the appropriate parts to do the job correctly.

An extra set of springs on top of the leaf pack, and a rear sway bar.

gsdog1, I'm taking all of the lift (it's in 4 seperate boxes) with me to houston along with the invoice and we are going to go over it piece by piece so there are no foul ups. Hopefully I'll get the wheels in friday so I can at least have that done.

I'd be willing to bet you got a 5" lift for a 1500 instead of a 4.5" lift for a 2500/3500.

Add-A-Leaf is probably the thinner one as well.

2500's and 3500's have longer Ubolts to begin with, let alone if they have the camper package.

Not sure if the control arms are different for a 1500 rather than a 2500.

Well, the invoice says 2500-3500. I'm guessing it's for the V8 though (do the 3500's even come with a v-8?). There are mulitple kits. One for the v8 gasser, one for the diesel/v10 with camper package, one for the v10/diesel without it. I'll let yall know the out come. Like I said, Chris at four wheels parts is bending over backwards for me on this. I highly recommend these guys.

That's cool. Yeah, the 4 Wheel guys here in Indy did a great job by me as well.

Sure you don't wanna let them do the install? Mine was dirt cheap honeslty.

They want $350 for the install and I just can't swing that. Plus I get a chance to work on the truck.

Its the 4 wheel parts on Gessner. Believe it or not, they were actually cheaper than the 610 one.

Not sure if the 3500 came with the V8, but I know the 2500 did.

Sounds like you'll have the right kit eventually.

Just be glad you don't have to deal with the 2002 confusion.
That being the first year of the 3rd gen body in the 1500's, but parts folks are easily confused.

I'd say donate a couple pints to come up with the $350, you'll probably end up losing that much out of your busted knuckles anyway .
