got the plate installed and now the tranny slips in overdrive, and when you lug it in town the torque converter slips, so i was wondering if a 91 5 speed will fit in my 97... and how hard it would be to make it all work. thanks

Of course from your research and extensive reading on this forum you knew that would happen. Anybody would. There are many threads here on the difficulty of tranny swaps, I don't know if a '91 would fit.

I have a #10 in my 97 and my clutch has never slipped.

I believe the guy was asking for help, not a sarcastic response.

Here is a quote from a guy looking to do the reverse of what you want. Maybe it helps.

Sounds like you should just get a 4500.

f you have a 5 speed You can adapt the G-rag bell to fit the 4500 or get the Advanced Adapters bell and use all the stock parts that are on your dodge. To use the newer parts you will need a 2nd gen flywheel housing and starter that you dont have. Then you will need to get a new line for the slave if the hard line wont fit in your truck, You can ge ends that fit the master and slave that adapt it to AN line fittings and have a braided line made for it any size you need. you can get them from ORU and they are for NV4500 to Jeep swaps to conect the slave to the stock jeep master you will need 2 (its the same fitting on your master and slave). I would just swap the bell and your ready to go. Only other mods are to move shifter hole back 6" and make an t-case shifter bracket. heres a pick of the one I made its easy. If you have an auto then you will be better off to find a 205 off of a manual (29-spline input auto has 23- spline) Converting 23 spline to 29 requires some machine work and $400 worth of parts. PM me if you have any more ??? I have done 7 G-rag to 4500 swaps and 1 auto to 4500 swaps.
