Hey guys,
I am putting in my CB finally. I wanted to hook it up so it would only be on when the iginition is set to run or accessorie. I thought about spliceing it into a fuse with a little fuse "ad-a-circut" Like I did with my gauges. Any suggestion on what a good fuse to tie into would be?

I've been told the best place to get power for the CB is directly from the battery.

Direct from the battery is best IMHO as well, just remember to put an noise isolation box on it as well, if not you will have a little more noise on the speaker and maybe some whine.

Another place where you can pull power if you don't have power seats is the power seat hot wire under the drivers seat. The battery is the better place.

I 4th the battery... I had it tapped on the drivers seat fuse at first, but you get too much whine and noise that way... I used the other battery over by the Scotty II! It was looking neglected since all the other goodies are hooked into the drivers side battery...

Why is it best to run it straight to the battery?

Because that is where the cleanest power is, less interference from other electronic stuff.

Hmmm. I'll have to try that seeing as how I cut the power wire I was using.

Thanks guys. I tempariarly tied it into the raido fuse so I could play with it now. I only have alittle k40 superflex fiberglas antenna. 3' and mounted to stake hole closet to cab on driver side. But it didnt do to bad if you were within a mile or 3. Crab CB too. I need to get a good one. I hear the galaxy dx959 is a good one. What do you guys think?

yup the battery is the best place, it has the "cleanest" power. I used a fuse block cause I have a scanner so both are connected to the fuse block and the block to the driver side battery. Just remember to shut off the CB when you are done or it will stay on with the igntion off.

If you want key on power you can use the Black with orange stripe wire below the steering coulmn. But there right, the cleanest power is direct to the battery.

Just don't forget to tune your radio and get your SWR readings... other than that, sounds like everything is working fine...

yeah I tuned it. Its diled in nicely. I was looking at wilson antenna's site. There 3' fiberglass whip is adviertised to have like 180% gain or something over my 3' k40 firberglass whip. Do you think its really any better? I cant use more then 3' because Iwont be able to gothrough the drive through at mcdonalds
