I have about 1200 miles on my trans sense Dave rebuilt it, 3 disk converter, VB, 1,2 apply strap, band replacement and 48re input.

Question is if I'm making a corner and slow down from 45mph to say 10-15mph the truck doesn't want to shift out of 3rd up to 2nd. If I hammer the peddle it will shift but normally just bogs the engine, puts out a big cloud of smoke until it's up to boost at 15psi and then it's off like a race car.

Now when I was talking to Dave he mentioned a new valving (pressure something) he was trying with a .0075 and a .0150 but he was more talking about the harder 3/4 shifts into lockup to ease this shift. Could these valves (what every they are) be causing my trans not to shift back down? The truck drives great with the trans and the only issue is slowing down and then back up to speed. Like I say if I gun it, it will go to what ever gear the speed says, 1st or 2nd but if I'm easy but over 1/2 peddle it will stay in 3rd and bog the engine. Is this normal with a new VB or something else?

mine does the same thing. Sometimes if i just get on it real slow it will upshift and bog it and it will black out the day.

sounds like you guys need to tighten up your TV cable. I have a GB trans, and made sure my TV cable is tight but that it doesn't pull the throttle open any.

Thats the cable above the shift linkage right, with the spring right. How do you adjust it

My 99 with a georend tranny is the same way and my cable is as tight as you can go befor problems. I got used to it by now. It did get me pulled over once because of smoke from lugging in 3rd from 15 mph back to 40. I would like it to shift different but sometimes its nice just the way it is.

The only way I see is to bend the steal bracket, for the cable, that bolts to the trans. Otherwise it's not adjustable.

what are you using to fool the PCM with the raised pressures? and then when does it shift from 2nd to 3rd under light throttle?

You adjust the TV Cable up at the APPS, located above the IP and infront of the intake horn. Take off the black cover and you will see the throttle cable and tv cable. There is a white clip that holds the cable into place (back side of the black bracket where the TV cable runs through). You remove that, adjust the cable accordingly, then install the white clip back into place.

If I'm not mistaken pretty much all of the VB's shift that way. Tony @ Dunrite told me he has had some guys complain about that and was trying to figure out a way around it. He said he liked it that way on his rig. That was about a year ago so I don't know if he came up with anything or not. I know he is always trying to make improvements.

Mine does the same thing. I got about 20k on it with no issues. Called Dave and he said that its fine and not to worry about it.

I hope everyone understands this is not how it is supposed to shift, and it needs attention to be corrected. I haven't used a resistor in over 5 years, get an adjustable voltage regulator so you can tune it.

Agree! I have always believed it's a Dodge electronics thing..... not a Goerand, HTS, DTT, etc thing!
My tranny has never enjoyed down shifting to 2nd. Almost never does. At 12 mph or less it will drop directly into 1st every time.

If I'm heavy and turning up a hill between 15 and 25 mph, I'll manually shift to 2nd, and accelerate up to 35 before going back to 3rd. But usually I just slow to under 12 mph and let the tranny do it's thing, starting in 1st gear.. For me, it's just part of learning how to drive with big injectors w/o smoking out an intersection.
Not hard...just different.
