Give me some details about pop testing please
Still searching around on injectors.
I'm debating getting a set Jammer II tips or looking for a used set of Machs.
If I get just the tips, as opposed to the whole Jammer II injector from City Diesel, I need to pop test. Or if I get used injectors, I would like to pop test them as well.
My buddy works at a mine as a diesel mechanic and said he can pop test stuff for me for free.
Can any pop tester check Cummins injectors? He does a lot of work on Caterpillar stuff but I'm not sure what kind of machinery would have Cummins engines. Does he need a special tester/adapter?
I'm assuming if he can pop test, he can adjust them if they are off?
I notice City diesel says they clean, pop test and balance. Is balancing just making sure the pop off pressures are the same? What do you need to do to clean them?
I have a spare set of ETC/SO injectors that the tips could be installed on. Only have 85k miles on them. These should be fine for the tips, correct?
Local diesel shop wants $35 a piece to adjust the pop off pressures. So, if I can get the City Diesel ones, it would be cheaper. Unless my buddy can do it. But, I would still like to pop test if I get a used set of injectors.
Any info is appreciated.

I tried to get some tested at my local dealer and they didn't have the adapter, Heck it took them 15 min. just to find the tester then told me they coudn't do it. If your close to a john deere shop they can do it, they can usually do it while there still in the truck.

Your JD dealer won't have the holder for the 24V injectors... No problems with the 12V injectors...
Any injection shop should be able to tested them.. some will check them for free.. and only charge you if they need to be adjusted...
