Gear vendors OD not working...help!!!!!

I have the GV overdrive unit on my truck. I mostly used it for an extra overdrive on the freeway. That was until it quit working!!!!! Now when I engage it it holds for about 2 seconds then....WHAM it unlocks. I'm cussing it right now. Has anybody had this problem with their OD unit?

check the fluid level. The overdrive depends on fluid presure to keep it engaged. If fluid is good, when is the last time it was changed. There is also 2 filters that need to be cleaned. The main one in the bottom of the pan and a small insert filter that is under one of the 3 screw in plugs inside the unit accesed by removing the pan. There is also a check valve in the smaller of the screw in plugs that may have to be cleaned(it consists of a small ball bearing and pressure spring). go to this website and contact them direct if none of the above work: http://www.gearvendors.com/

Truck batteries. They are located under the hood, right behind the headlamps, on both sides of the trucks. They both have one red wire and one black wire going to them.

Funny, He made it sound like their was a battery for the GV. My truck batteries are Optima red tops and they are in good shape.

I called Jeff at GV and told him what is going on. I tested it this morning and payed attention to the light on the switch panel. I am going to call him back today and see what he says.

He Neil, what turned out to be the problem with your OD unit? Mine doesn't go into OD at all, but when I engage it I loose engine breaking. If I turn it off (WHAM) the engine breaking is back!

Well I still haven't looked at the speed sensor yet. I called GV and the tech wanted me to verify i was getting a A/C signal from the sensor while the wheels are turning. Haven't had time....stay tuned. Actually it worked for about 1 minute couple weeks ago. so I know it's a loose connection, flaky signal, or bad wire most likely. It sure is nice to have that extra gear on the freeway with 4.10's

Installed mine this week and it is working great. If I had a problem I would call 1-800-999-9555 and ask for the technical dept. I found them very helpful.

I called GV, they said that my OD clutch is burned up
They want $750 to rebuild it, but I think I will just get the clutch and do it myself. The other clutch is fine....

well in my case it was exactly what you described; a goofy a/c signal. the fluid was a little low as well. just my .02
