Gauges working?

Gauges working?
Hey guys just a couple of questions. I got my gauges(trans, fuel, pryo) and have some questions.
First on the trans: I hooked it up on the hot line using a compression fitting and could not get the temp over 140 cruising at 70 for 30 min(unloaded). On my way to work this morning(22 miles @60mph-50 degrees outside) it would see maybe 110. Does this sound right?
Second: I hooked up the pyro and it worked perfectly. Egts at 70 were @700 and when I would gas on it it would jump to 1000 or so. Shut it down and went to bed. When I get in it this morning, the gauge showed 1300 degrees before start up and would climb past redline and bury the needle but would not go below 1300. It's as if it was working backwards using 1300 as 0 degrees. Anyway when I got to work I unhooked the hot wire(power seat fuse) to let it reset but it did not fall to 0. Just went back out there and plugged the hot wire back in and it fell to 0. I have the grounds for all three gauges hooked together and mounted on the chasis. Is the gauge bad or just acting up?
Oh yeah, my truck is stock.

The trans sensor sounds like it's in the cold line. The temp is almost following engine temp unless it's really cold there.
On the pyro, I'd check the terminal connections to make sure all screws are making good contact. The pyro works off a few hundred millivolt (milliamp?) so any slight loss of conductivity is catastrophic. Also, did you cut and solder the pyro wire? Changing the stock connnectors on the pyro leads is a big no-no, it changes the resistance or the lead that the gauge is calibrated.
brandon.

I figured out what was wrong with my pyro. On the instructions it said to put the hot wire to the batt. I put it on the power seat fuse cause it's hot all the time. What was happening was the gauge would not reset itself when the truck was killed and would start from where it left off at shutdown. I moved the wire to the ignition fuse and now everything works just right. On my trans gauge, it is in the hot line and yesterday it was warmer (70 degrees) and the temp went up to 170. I feel better now.

Your trans temp sounds about normal. When you are going 70 the TC is locked and generates very little heat. If you want to see it go high try driving around in 1st or reverse for awhile.
The speed limit at the end of my driveway is 70, if I go out on a zero degree day and start going the speed limit it will take over a half hour for my tranny temp to get over 100F. It's only because of the engine coolant/ATF cooler that it even picks up this much heat because like I said lockup generates little heat.
Lots of folks come on here thinking their gauge that starts at 140° doesn't work because it never moves, reason is because of lockup.
