I really like my Dakota digital fuel pressure gauge. It reads very accurate and is easy to see at a glance not to mention the high and low warnings. I will admit that I am not a fan of digital gauges for the reason that they can be difficult to understand what you are reading when you have fast moving numbers, like a tach or pyro. But for something that doesnt move much, like a fuel pressure gauge, it works great.

No they dont washout. If there is dirrect sunlight on the gauge face then the glare makes it harder to see but you can still read it. Dakota did a good job of stopping that by making the face dull. Yes the intensity does change with the dash lights. It does the same thing as the radio numbers.

Mine are very easy to read even with direct sunlight. One thing you can do that makes the faces look a lot better is reverse is. The other side is polished and shiny and it really shines then. Bad glare though. Oh well. You can't have your cake and eat it to. Mine adjust with the dash lights. They have a wire you can hook up that automatically dims them for night driving. I run with my marker lamps and fog lamps on all the time so I left that wire unhooked. I like the bright look at night.

BB & KATOOM,
Thanks for the info (I think ). I was already to get the ISSPRO EV's until you two pointed out the Dakota's. Now I have to make another decision. [undecided]

Just my two cents worth- but I think the Autometer Phantom series is about the best looking gauge out there.
Plus they sell a ton of them on Ebay so you can pretty much do your complete package for what one of the more expensive gauges costs.

My family works at a local racetrack, and EVERY race car there runs Autometer gauges.

Not trying to make things even more confusing for you but the real reason I got the Dakota is because I have the Isspro EV boost and pyro. I love them. The color face pyro is very nice. I wanted to get a FP gauge to match but Isspro didnt make a reliable electric one. So I got the mechanical. Ran it for a few days and couldnt stop the gut feeling that I would have a real nasty disaster on my hands (in my truck) if that line ever leaked. And I did use SS braided too. So after not being able to handle the stress I looked for a reliable electric gauge. No one had one. Guys have made some work but for the most part they were all unreliable. Autometer even recalled theirs and wouldnt warrant a diesel application. Finally someone told me about Dakota being very reliable so I gave it a try. It reads the same as the mechanical Isspro did and matches the Isspro's looks very well. So to say would I choose all my gauges to be Dakota's? Probably not because I wouldnt like the fast paced numbers of a pyro or boost gauge in a digital. But this is all personal preference.
This is also to add that I have seen a BD X monitor in action and well its a nice little package but I didnt like the small digital numbers. Again, personal preference.

To me, analog gauges are quicker to read than a digital readout.
Once you get used to them, a quick glance to see the needle position is all you need.
Isspro EV series.

[/quote] in a nicely set up race car all the guages are set so that under normal operating conditions the gauages all point to the same position, 12 o'clock usually works well. now if u glance over and one is at not at 12:00 then u know u may have a problem.

That's the way I always set my Racers up.
My drives in the truck are usually a little longer than 8 seconds, so it's not quite as critical.......

KATOOM,
Thanks again for your input. I have a "gut feeling" as well that I am going to experience the same stess you did about having a disaster in the cab ala Exxon Valdez. Originally I was going to go with ISSPRO EV for FP, boost & EGT. Then I found out they did not offer an electrical FP gauge. Then I looked at Autometer because they offer an electrical FP gauge, but I read a lot about them being unreliable (the senders). Then I thought about the full Dakota digital setup like Big Blue, but I still like the analog readouts. I originally wanted all my gauges to match. Last night I talked myself into the ISSPRO EV's again with their mechanical FP gauge and SS braided line. I emailed Rod last night to ask him how common it is to install the mechanical FP gauge in the cab. I am waiting on his answer to make my final decision. No matter what, I will be getting the ISSPRO EV boost and EGT. The decision I still have to make is about their FP or the Dakota FP gauge. It depends on what Rod suggests and what my pucker factor is.
Thanks again.
I have mine on the pillar 8) not even a smell of fuel ;D if it ever does drip, just shut off at the valve until repairs can be made I would not dream of putting gasoline in the cab but diesel fuel aint no big deal
The setup from Rod will come with the shut off valve and stainless steel braided line.
my $0.00002
