Gauges dimmed correctly?
Hi ya'll, just finished installing Dipricol EGT and boost in pillar mount. Truck is a basic model without all the electric gizmos.

Question is which wires to use for gauge lights so they dim with the rest of the dash. After quite a bit of playing with the meter and a test lead I wound up using a brown wire with orange trace that was on the top of the switch connection block and a black/orange of the rheostat looking thing on the bottom of the switch. This sound familiar or right or anything to anyone? Didn't let the smoke out anywhere I noticed, just wondering.

BTW, the Haynes manual I got seems to show the same wiring diagram for the multifunction switch and the headlight switch. All I know is that my headlight switch connector looks nothing like what they show.

Thanks,
Rob

Re:Gauges dimmed correctly?
When I installed my gauges, I picked illumination voltage from a 5 amp
fuse in the panel(just be sure to get the fused side). It was an orange
wire. Power for the pyrometer amp was from a 10A fuse labeled for the
dash gauges, and I think it was white w/orange stripe.

HTH

Re:Gauges dimmed correctly?
Just added a trans temp gauge from autometer and discovered you can have a much cleaner install by picking up a $7.00 "add a circuit part" at your local auto store. This thing just plugs into your circuit board at the "illumination" 5 amp fuse and has a single wire attached for the positive wire of your accessory. It allows your accessory to be protected by its own 5 amp fuse. I think it is a great way to add accessories without mickey mousing. IMHO Try Auto Zone or Pep Boys.
