Gauges Are IN
Well I finally got my Z series gauges in.
They look good but the install was a bit of a pain.
The thermocouple for the trans temp is too fat making it a reaL BOOGER to fit down along the side through the dash.
There is just not enough room for all that stuff.
I was able to connect my power wire for the lights and the pyro into the fuse panel using some little adapters that plug in under the fuse leaving a terminal spade to connect to.
got em from NAPA.
I connected the lights to #13 (Illumination)
and the pyro to I think #5 (Cigarette lighter)
At first the egts easily got up to 1200 while standing on it until I changed my dirty stock filter and put in the FREE K&N that one of our Kind members sent to me on his own dime. I owe you one man!!!!!
Now when I stand on it rises to just under 1200 shifts and drops then rises again and then I had to get off of it.
I was going fast enough to be locked up at that point.
It seems to maintain 550 to 600 EGT at highway speeds while unloaded.
Tommorrow I will be hauling a 15Klbs 13' high trailer about 240 miles. What kind of EGTs should I expect and how high is the highest temps that I should sustain????
Thanks for all the tips guys.

I've hit 1250 before on my truck with 4" straight pipe and a scotty 2 with the hole unloaded before. I'd look for around 1200*. Tranny temp, I've never towed since I got mine so I don't know what to look for on that. I'd think around 200* or so.

This is per Cummins.
I personally wouldn't chance it, what happens if your thermocouple or guage is reading 100 degrees cooler than actual temperature.
1400 sustained will surely melt the pistons.
1400 even 1500 for short bursts (drag racing or sled pulling) followed by a good cool down cycle probably wouldn't be too bad, if not one very often.
