just installed my vdo FP gauge and big line kit at idle it is at 12lbs running at 60 about 8 if i stand on it it goes to about 5. i ran the gauge to the port in the filter housing that is closest to the block is this right? Also is this pressure ok for a little while the purchase of the truck and such have broke me. I will get a new pump soon but can i run this for a little while. I need to tow 9k about 50 miles Saturday.

Filter may make a difference. You should be able to pick one up at your local Cummins shop or, if you don't mind Wix filters (like me), you can get one pretty much anywhere. Instructions for the filter swap are here!

Here are some directions for a fuel filter change.
DO NOT BUY THE REPLACEMENT FILTER FROM THE DODGE DEALER!!
They charge $45.00 for the SAME filter you can buy for $14.00 from Cummins or any auto parts store.
