FYI: Two Channel EGT gauge...

just thought this might be of interest to some of you...

startinglineproducts.com is a manufacturer of snowmobile performance goodies. this year they have a new product which is an EGT gauge with two channels for twin cylinder/twin pipe snowmobile applications. it reads PTO and MAG exhaust temps and displays the hottest temp on the analog gauge. it also records the hottest temp per probe in its memory.

in other words, you could run this gauge reading 1,2,3 and 4,5,6 exhaust temps on our Cummins motors and have it display the highest temp, and notify you which one was hotter.

I remember reading an article in Hot Rod or a similar magazine several years ago about a car that was built with a probe in each header down tube and had a single pyrometer. There was a rotary **** that had eight positions to switch between cylinders. You could do something similar. You could read either pre and post turbo, each individual cylinder, or just about any combination you can conceive.

the key here is that it reads the hottest probe... no need to manually switch... that's killer!

Y'all should see the setup on my old cutter (Coast Guard). The main diesel on it were a 12 cylinder, 24 piston, vertically opposed diesel engine. The was a pyro sensor off of each cylinder on each engine. All the sensor ran to a digital readout in the control room. One panel per side of the engine room. The main diesel generators (V8 design, pyro on each cylinder at the manifold) also ran into the pyro panel. And to top it off the main gas turbines each had an array of pyro sensors, one for each burner can. Pretty impressive setup.

here is the link to the gauge for a description and visual (hope this works)...

2 channel gauge

1500*F temps, ~270* sweep, 0* to 600* is compressed to give the 600* to 1500* better visibility, take a look.
