Re:Future Pulling Truck
Well if you want to keep the 5spd you will need a bigger imput shaft. You would be better off going to a 6spd but it is A LOT more $$$$.
DM01

1) Build it yourself....a lot more fun....and you learn something to boot!

2) Go pull it once stock and see how it does!

3) Run the tranny until you shear the input shaft off!

4) Get a dual disc clutch......and Twin turbos......and a lot of fuel!

There is a rough guide......not to be followed in numerical order!

Good luck!

Bill

Re:Future Pulling Truck
For your first mod I would also suggest robbing a bank or winning the lottery.

Those pulling guys don't play very cheap. To be competitive you might as well drop down the 4K for a set of twins. :'(

Good Luck

By the way, in September I'm going to be hosting a huge truck pull here in Lanesville, IN. I'm sure if you would like to come give it a hook or talk to the big boys they will be here. 8)

DB

Re:Future Pulling Truck
love to come up there again and hook the sled. Hopefully by then it will be running good. I'm taking donations ! First thing is to get the pump and injectors taken care of, then dual disc clutch from southbend. Then whatever else i can afford, hopefull twins or bigger single. Wes

Since its designed specifically for that purpose.

Re:Future Pulling Truck
Also the 8.3C would not be aloud at certain pulls that require an engine that is supplied with a pickup for pickup pulls ie 5.9,7.3,6.6,6.5,6.9,6.0.

--Justin

Dodgeboy59,
You'll have fun with your pulling truck, it's easy to get hooked . I have a Mitchell billet input shaft (1 3/8" HD) for a 5 speed and a fully splined output shaft kit that I didn't use because I converted to a 6 speed. Could save you some $'s if you're interested. Larry
