fuel system upgrade

i'm looking to upgrade my fuel system this spring/ summer. i already have the airdog fp 100. but its just sucking through a draw straw so i get low level slosh issues. im planning on getting the vulcan draw straw V so it would suck from the canister. while i have it apart i wanna do my return system too. i want to run 1/2 inch line for the whole return side. i'm wondering what size and where to get fittings to go from the banjo fitting on the back of the head to JIC (like the old airdogs came with for the supply side) and same for the return on the side of the vp44. then i'll have the return lines dumping into the canister so no slosh issues.
thanks

Call Richard Martin at Glacier Diesel. He always helps me out and is a mastermind at helping with fuel fittings and what not. He is not the only one but you can't beat his customer service on the subject.

I run a 1/2in home made draw straw. I ripped off the fuel pick-up module suction screen and ran my 1/2in line in there. Been working for at least 160000miles, with no issues. Just make sure the pick-up module can travel fully into the bottom of the tank. I can run my fuel tank down to almost nothing. Hard braking will drain the fuel pressure down to almost nothing. I'm one of those guys that fuel regulate my injection pump at 55 psi of fuel pressure.

Had a few issues with the suction screen getting plugged up. Which protects the pump, but isn't a fun fix at -40 deg's F on the side of road.

is 1/2" overkill for a return is is 3/8 plenty at 16 psi?

also, if my truck is getting hard to start when the fuel level is down around half a tank, could that be the pressure relief on the vp44?

Probably a bit. The suction side needs to be larger to reduce velocity. The return side, being under pressure, can run a higher velocity, say maybe 4 or 5 times as much for a given flow rate. I just went through this on my 94 and have 3/8" ordered for the return line.

How much pressure you have during crank? How fast fuel pressure increase? You done any recent modifications like injectors? Any fuel leaks?

The hard start was a fuel leak. Banjo washer on back of head. Planning on doing the draw straw right away. Is it even worth going to 3/8 return out just leave it stock?
