Fuel Pump upgrade.

Hi Guys,

Been a while since I last posted, My truck has been running great with the new mechanical fuel pump till last week when I’m down in the 5PSI ( mechanical gauge) all fuel lines are good, and there is no ail leaks.
This is a non OEM replacement mechanical pump from EBay, so I have myself to blame for the 6 months of use out of the new pump.

Anyway my question is:-
Looking to replace the pump with a electrical pump, i.e. Air Boss Raptor or FASS.

My truck is pretty stock, and is only used to hall live stock.

What are you feeling on the electric pumps, and what ones are the best for the $$$$

Cheers

Have you made sure there is no blockage in the lines/tank, and that the overflow valve is working correctly?

the mechanical pump will out perform any electric pump. as tate said, check everything, might not be anything serious wrong.

You would be downgrading to use an electric pump.
The mechanical in my 3500 has been putting out a steady 32 psi for 265k miles.
Had to replace the pump in the 2500 at 225k miles.
Just buy a good one.

I agree with the above posts. The biggest weak spot on every modern vehicle seems to be the electric fuel pump. Your truck comes equipped with one of the most reliable lift pumps in the industry. I think anything else would be a downgrade.

Wow, thank you guy's. I was a little unsure whether to go with a electric pump.
I believe that I found the problem over the weekend, the supply line has a few cracks, but with -12f weather its a little cold to start messing with the fuel line. I'm glad I asked the question tho.
Thank you. I'm going to stay with the mech pump.

Cheers guys for your input

whats the easiest way to replace the fuel line which go's from the LP to the filter, for what I can see it looks to be a bastard to replace? and this white stuff on the ground is no fun when your hands are cold and wet :-(

Easiest way is from the top with a line you bought from the dealer for about $10
What helps immensely when replacing the lift pump is to toss the stock pump bolts and replace with a pair of 8mm x 30mm x 1.25 pitch studs with nuts.
This will make it 500 times easier.
