Fuel Pump

ok so im thinking about getting a new fuel pump but not to sure about which one to go with? is it better to just spend the money and get the extra pump or just get the one that replaces the original? also the originals are located on the side of the engine on the 99's correct?
thanks

I went through 2 stock lift pumps in 6 months. I then went with the FASS and everything has been fine since. Never under 12 psi. I don't like the price of replacing the filters through. I paid about $75 for the the pair.

You will get quite a few opinions based on personal preference. I personally went with the Glacier Diesel fuel boss mechanical lift pump. I was just sick and tired of dealing with all of the electric CRAP. Now when my engine is running I have pressure. The more RPM's the MORE pressure. 12-14 at idle and 17-19 at WOT.

I installed a Fass on mine and no problems so far. I usually run 16-18 psi pulling my TT and about 10 at wot, idles at 22-24 psi.

The fuel pumps out today are all really good so personal preference, objective, and money are going to be the deciding factors. Just dont bother spending $200 on an OEM replacement pump. They aren't worth the money and are to unreliable.

Not to hijack the thread but in case you didn't already know, a 14 pound drop from idle to WOT is not normal. You may want to call FASS about your fuel pressures. I believe its only supposed to be no more than a 4 psi difference.

You don't need to to buy a pump/filter combo. The OEM filter setup is darn good. Put the fp gauge on either port on the filter top. Ports are pre and post filter. I use pre filter to monitor fp pressure.

You need this:
http://www.glacierdieselpower.com/pr...pf_id=RP-100-U

http://www.vulcanperformance.com/Dra...p/vpps9804.htm

This will eliminate all banjos while moving lift pump to frame in front of fuel tank.

ok ya i already have the fp gauge on post filter, and so if i get that raptor its worth the money and will do just as good as the more expensive airdog? and this way i wont have to do a lot of major work to it?
thanks

I like my Raptor too. Fairly easy install and I utilize the OEM fuel filter so I'm not buying expensive Airdog filters.

This is a bad idea. You want to know what the pressure is right at the VP. Doesn't matter how much pressure is before the filter if the filter gets clogged.

another option you can go with is an after market tank sump like this one http://www.hellmannperformance.com/sumpout.jpg

this way you wont have any cavitation problems when the fuel gets low which is the case with some of the in tank mods
