Fuel Psi.??? where should it be @???

Hi guys i just installed my fuel psi. gauge i am running about 11 psi. @ idle and between 6-8 psi. normal driving about 70mph, 4-5 psi. if i push it wide open throttle does this sound acceptable???

sounds normal but if gets lower change the lp 5 psi is min at wot

As long as you're not sucking it down below 5 psi at WOT, you should be fine. However, I wouldn't be traveling very far from home without a spare lift pump if I was still running a carter or other stock style lp, especially if the hp is being turned up. Airdog or FASS would be a good idea if you're running hp mods.

That might be a touch low. Fuel flow is what keeps the VP cool, so more flow the cooler it is, too a point. Mine is around 15psi all the time.

Service manual says minimum 10psi, 7psi while cranking, 5psi differential across the fuel filter. The VP bypasses at 14psi. That being said, I believe you should never see below 5psi at the VP intake at WOT. It can be inferred that 14psi or a little above gives best fuel circulation for cooling since that's when the bypass (maximum fuel needed at the VP) opens. I personally run about 21psi pre filter and see 15-19 at the VP intake....

I get wobbly in the knees when my WOT hits 8 psi...filter change has been getting it back to 9.5-10 psi..
