Question Fuel Presure Problem

Today when i was going to work i noticed that the fuel presure dropped about 10 psi. When i stomped on it, it would go down to 0. So the first thing i did was change the fuel filter. Still the same problem. Then i put a new transfer pump on and i gained about 1 psi. So right now im thinking it is the guage i have isnt working right. I dont have an isolator in it and tried bleeding the gauge and still no change. What im wondering is, is there anything else i should look at to fix this problem. The presures im seeing right now are 6psi idle, 5psi crusing, and 0psi WOT. Yesterday it would read 16psi idle, 13 crusing, 9 WOT. I will put another gauge on tomorrow but is there anything esle that might cause this to happen. Any help will be great.

Thanks Devin

I really sounds loike it's you gauge. Does it make any ticking or vibrating noises?

Is your gauge electrical? I don't see how your gauge will stop working all of a sudden. I'd look into fuel line leaks.

Maybe a plugged line? Did you use any teflon tape on any of the connectors that might be plugging up the fuel line? Let us know because I'm having fuel pressure problems too. My fuel pressure gauge is jumping around everywhere.

My gauge is mechanical and there are no leaks anywhere in the system. I pulled the lines off and put air threw them and there was no obstructions. Im just heading out to a buddies place to get the fuel presure checked with his gauge. Will let you know how it turns out.

do you still have the schrader valve that is located on the inlet to the VP-44? If so, buy a test gauge from Pep-Boys or like auto parts place and test it with another gauge. This will let you know right away if you have a gauge problem or a lift pump issue.

It turned out being a faulty lift pump. It sounded like it was working right but it wasnt. Put a new lift pump on and problems solved.

I was gonna suggest that. This is why I decided to go with a walbro. Has been solid so far.

The new lift pump that i put on lasted 1 day. The one i have now seems to be good. 16 psi idle, 13 psi @ 60mph, and 10 psi WOT.
