Fuel Pressure Warning Light

Has anyone installed or had any experence with a fuel pressure warning light? Seen one advertised on ebay for 68.95. It installs at the inlet to the injecter pump. The light is suppose to come on at 4psi. Thinking about getting one.

I would prefer a gauge over a warning light so I can see how the lift pump is performing in all conditions instead of only when it is starting to die.

My Cummins shop also offered a warning light. I am considering it since a light would be noticed by anyone driving the truck. Has anyone done both a warning light and gage?

My Dakota Digital FP gauge can flash when you have extreme "high" or "low" fuel pressure... I just never set it...

This place on ebay also sells a guage kit for 78.95. Don't know how good it is. How hard is to install a guage kit? Might be my best bet.

I purchased the low pressure light kit recently and installed. It is a bright led light that
mounted easily near the gauges in pillar mount. It is triggered when pressure goes
below 5 psi from the LP to the vp44. Sender mounts on the vp44.
It is simple to install and not expensive, and lets me know if a problem so covers my needs.
I paid $59.95 at Oregon Fuel Injection in Eugene,Or. I believe product is manufactured
by BD engine brake.

I bought the one from cummins, part number is VP44CLK2Y and the description is "ISB 2PSI Pres Fuel Switch". I used a LED light from radio shack, stuck next to one of my pillar gauges. The cummins kit comes with a banjo bolt rings and light.

I will add a gauge as soon as I figure out where to put it.

Geno's Garage sells a Westach fuel pressure gauge kit (everything included) for around $69 ... money better spent!

the light kit was less than $70.
I don't know where to put a fuel pressure gauge, I think the ashtray is going to get modified. Either way, that red LED is pointed right at my face and will shine bright if there is a problem. Might be enough to save the VP.

With all the instruments, it's getting pretty busy for my old eyes. I wouldn't want to miss some skirt on the sidewalk because I was trying to see if my fuel pressure was 7 or 9 psi. I'll add a gauge to monitor it, but the light stays.

Thanks for the reply's on this subject. I have decided that the gauge will be better so I purchased the Westach gauge from Geno's. Will be installing soon.

For the members with the light kits, were there any part numbers or manufacturing info on the actual swich (that triggers the LED)? On the Hobbs site the pressure switches are only rated to 250 degrees F. Maybe they have a high temp version? Sent Oregon an email asking them too. Link is below.
