Fuel pressure tap location?

Fuel pressure tap location?
Ok, I am a bit confused. I am reading through a lot of old posts about where to take the fuel pressure reading for my autometer gauge. A lot of people seem to be taking it from the fuel filter housing or the feed line for the injection pump. Wouldn't this only read if your Fass or LP is working? So if your IP is dying then you will have no idea...am I thinking correct?
The reason I ask is mine is currently tied in before my injection pump in the supply from the FASS. My fass stopped working the other day and the gauge went to zero which sparked this entire thought process.
Thanks,
Paul

The line out of the bottom of your filter is the "out". Tapping there with a tapped banjo gives you the LP pressure heading to the VP-44.
I'm not sure I follow what your question is.....
Yes, it reads the incoming pressure, (which, if you have none, your IP is in trouble). There is no good way to monitor actual VP-44 pressures as there is with the CR's.

Sorry if i didn't word it clearly. I am wondering if most people are watching LP pressure and not IP pressure and if it is good to be watching the LP pressure and not the IP pressure...if you can even watch the IP pressure.
When I saw zero on the gauge I was only three min from home. I turned around and killed it right away.
Thanks,
Paul

I monitor the pressure between the filter and the injection pump.
When I see my WOT pressure lower than 'normal', I know it's time to change the fuel filter.
To monitor pressure on the injector side of the VP, you'd need a gauge and line capable of handling/reading several THOUSAND psi.
