Going to install my fuel pressure gauge this weekend.
I have a couple of questions. First in regards to the brass
fittings. Is there some type of thread sealant that I can put
on before assembly. Second the kit came with 1/8" plastic
or nylon line is this O.K. Third I am going to tap off the bottom
of the fuel filter housing is this a good place ?

a couple of things....dont use the regular teflon....it MUST be petroleum rated or it will leak. A better bet is Permatex #2 OR liquid teflon available at any industrial supplier.

As for the 1/8" line.....get some 1/4" line and run the 1/8" through it to help prevent any mechanical damage

on an 01....tap of the bottom of the fuel filter (this is post filter).

I currently have mine tapped at the bottom of the canister, but I have had it tapped from the vp44 and pre-canister. I moved it because of the the sound that the gauge made (trapped air). So far, the quietest place is post filter.

another thing I forgot - make sure you use a needle valve for shutoff and grease gun hose to dampen pulses from the VP-44.
