Fuel pressure gauge into FASS system
Who has ran their line for the fuel pressure gauge directly into the FASS system instead of T-ing into the 3/8 inch hose?
I know guys are saying run it as close to the injector pump as possible.
It seems it would be a simpler system with less chance of any leak if I tied into the FASS on the gauge port.
I figured line pressure is line pressure. It should be the same at the beginning of the line as the end of the line if it is quality line.
Just thought I would ask the question since I plan on doing this job over the weekend.
Thanks, Ken

I hooked mine into the stock fuel filter housing simply because the closer it is to the VP the more accurate it will be and the less there is that could go wrong and cause a faulty reading.

Another question or 2,
I noticed CNeubauer, you stated that you tied the pressure gauge in the existing filter.
Is everyone going through the existing filter?
I was going to bypass the existing filter and lift pump since I have the filter and separator on the FASS unit.
Thought I may be able to use them on other projects.
Anyone tying into the coolant lines for the FASS unit?

I'm still running it through the stock filter. If you're bypassing it, then the gauge line from the pump would probably be ok. If you keep the filter, then run the gauge up there. There is a pressure loss through it. As for the coolant lines, I don't see the point. I've been through -30C with it and its been fine. I doubt you'll see those temps in Cali, and even then, it still ran fine.

I plumbed through the stock filter housing because I still had some spare filters around and I figured with the quality of fuel these day's you can't filter it too well.

I have a 150/95 at 45psi on my 98 12v.The fuel pressure was taken at the FASS and a separate hose ran up to the remote mounted fitting on my firewall for the electric sender.I will add a few photos of the place the pressure is taken and the remote mount for the Stewart-Warner FP gauge. It does not bounce, vibrate or vary and was a nice addition....Andy
P.S.-When I tried to upload the forums software reminded me I had already put those photos in another thread. Here is the link for you to look at them....

My understanding is that, that is way too much pressure for a VP...fine for a P-pump...and why would you run the FASS line thru the stock filter, with all those extra fittings, and possible problems associated with that, let alone the drop in pressure ??? It don't get no better than the filter in the FASS...
