Fuel pressure gauge. HELP ASAP
I cant keep a fuel pressure gauge in the truck. Currently i am using 1/4 inch line and i keep getting fine holes in it. I use 1/4 inch line because i cannot find a 1/8 to 1/8 needle valve. Where did you get your valves at?
If you going to ask me where i have looked ask me where i havent instead.
walmart, ace, lowes, home depot, sears, and every other little hardware stoer i can find. Anybodyhave any link for them n the net.

Napa is where most people buy them, thats where I got mine. You might have to actually tell them "it's like an in-line fuel shut-off...". When I bought mine nothing really clicked with the guy behind the counter until I said that, then he knew exactly where they were . And for the line you can use anything from 1/8" mechanical gauge pressure tubing to 1/4" ID hydraulic hose with a grease gun (whip) extension from that to the gauge...

You really just have to mess with it but it is not very far. Mine is open enough so the gauge reacts fast and there is minimal jump in the gauge. I could close it more but the jump is so slight that it doesn't bother me, i prefer the gauge to move fast.

im also looking for a 1/8'' needle valve and cant find one. Ive put three in now and cant get one that isnt leaking. looking for a high quality one in canada. Any help would be great. thanks

I ran fuel hose to the firewall, ( cuts down on noise transmitted to the cab.
At the firewall I ran 1/8 copper line to the Gage,
In the Fuel hose I inserted a bolt shoulder with a 1/16 hole drilled through
for a fixed neddle valve. Note Some gages have a small 'needle' port on
the inlet to the gage...

I still don't understand the need for the needle valve. My background as a Pipefitter then a HVAC Tech doesn't give me a reason for it's use in this application. I installed mine (as always) without a needle valve. I did install a small ball valve to shut of fuel to the gauge in the event of a hole or leak in the pressure line to the gauge, the ball valve is wide open in normal operation.
I have installed many pressure gauges in many applications over the years, never used a needle valve.
Could someone please explain why you use them??? I'm saying that you are wrong, I just don't understand why. We are only talking about small (0-20#) pressure here that doesn't fluctuate much. Mine only moves from 14 down to about 7 pounds during operation.
To those that say they have a leak at the needle valve. If it's coming from the T handle, tighten up the nut that the handle goes though.
And, also most good quality fuel pressure gauges have a very small opening at the inlet to stop the gauge indicator from fluctuating.

Thats exactly what I said...............a while back. I don't get it either.
I don't have anything inline in my 1/4" fuel hose to the guage, my guage is a 2 1/2" glycerine filled. 0-30#........and I guess the .019" hole isn't good enough to be a snubber .........

The needle valve barely cracked open acts as a dampener. It is essential on all 12 valves but on a 24 it seems to depend on where the gauge is plumbed from with right on the injection pump being the worse. The problem on the 24 isn't because of the lift pump but rather pulsations coming from the injection pump. On the 24 the gauge needle doesn't fly around wildly like a 12 valve but will tend to buzz if there isn't a dampener.
