Fuel Pressure Gauge

Fuel Pressure Gauge
OK, I did a search and still need to ask those that have added a fuel pressure gauge. Did you use the mechanical or an electric unit? Is there a “common” install location on the engine. It looks like some have tapped into the fuel filter top? If mechanical then you use the fuel isolator and mount it directly on the fuel filter? I keep adding up “all the stuff” for the mechanical and its hitting its head against just buying the electric. What am I missing?

Mechanical is more reliable. Forget the isolator, they fail too often. Make sure you use needle valve to dampen the fuel pressure vibration, and if you have a leak (extremely rare) you can shut off the needle valve. The top of the fuel filter is the best location so you can monitor pressure "post filter" and see when your filter needs changing.
Good call on adding a FP guage. It's a must on 2nd gen.
Please fill out your signature so we know at a glance what truck you are running, and what modifications you have done already.

98.5
I just installed a electric gauge on my 98.5 simple fix install the sender on the out side of the fuel filter. Mine had red, green and black from back of gauge. green and black go the the sender run a jumper from the black side of sender also the the ground side of battery. Run the red to the fuse block, I used the fuse that controled my dash lights. Call the guys at Geno's and they will send everything you need.
30 min job from start to finish. with the pillar pod option.

On my 01 I simply screwed the shrader valve fitting directly to the test port on the banjo bolt at the VP. Works the same as my test gauge at work, only this one is mounted on my column.
