Fuel Pressure Gauge
I would like to buy a Fuel Pressure Gauge so that I can check my lift pump on a regular basis. I don't want one that mounts to the truck rather I would like to have one that I can just pop the hood and screw in onto the test port. Is there a website that sells these things and is there a brand that someone would recommends?

Re:Fuel Pressure Gauge
Checking the fuel pressure at an idle will be of little value. The important test is when the engine is being worked, like at cruise speed and wide open throttle (WOT).

Re:Fuel Pressure Gauge
OK BOYS I'M KIND OF HOT RIGHT NOW > My truck runs perfect without a trailer but, I just hooked up to a 28' cattle trailer with 23 head of caves in it and it didn't run worth a (well you know). I had to turn back around and put the caves back in to the pens > here is what the truck is doing while I am getting up to speed it starts to shudder and acts like it wants to die. When I finally got it up to 65 mph with my OD off it was dropping in RPM and acted like it was down shifting a little bite. SO could this be a LIFT PUMP ??? After I got the trailer off the truck runs like a champ.

If the overflow valve is failing, it will give you low fuel pressure, and simulate a bad lift pump. You might want to check that before you drop coin on a lift pump. Don't forget, something as simple as a fuel filter can do this as well! I'd say an air filter, too, but if you're not pouring clouds of smoke, that's not it.

Re:Fuel Pressure Gauge
I don't know if it is the overflow Valve but I will go check it right now. I don't think the Power Puck is causing the problem b/c when my old one would mess up it would throw codes out. I am going to take the truck to Dodge first thing in the morning and let them think on it (I still have my 100,000 Warranty). I just pulled a trailer the other day and I didn't have any problems. The fuel Filter is new I changed it out last week and I noticed at the bottom of the separator there was some small pieces of metal in it. ???

Re:Fuel Pressure Gauge
After reading your first post for the 4th time, it could be a ground problem between the truck and trailer. Does it do the same thing with other trailers?

Thanks for posting the fix.
We see many, many posts reporting troubles and members offering several suggestions as to the fault.
It always helps to see what actually solved the problem.
