Fuel Pressure

I just installed a fuel pressure gauge. At idle I have 14psi.
at WOT it drops to 11psi. Whats the lowest safe pressure I
can get away with at WOT. I'm adding a Van Aaken V5 this week.

8 psi is the minimum most will tolerate at any time.

Has anyone in here have any info on the Van Aaken V5 for
2000-2001 HO trucks. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Not too sure about the VA 5, but take (if you're still in warrenty) into consideration that dealers warrenty lift pump failures on flow, not on psi. I'd say that you're in the clear, but just remember that incase your pressure drops after the install (and you can get away w/ warrenty work after the install).

Install a pusher pump kit to run with your lift pump it will keep you at 15psi w.o.t. and take alot of the load off your stock pump. Stock pumps last a long time when teamed up with a pusher. My 01 has 100hp injectors and Drag comp cant pull under 14psi with stock lift pump and BD diesel performance lift pump kit

where did you install your tubing for the gauge? I'm looking now at installing one on my truck.

I used a tapped banjo bolt on the bottom of the
fuel filter housing. This is post filter pressure. I
changed my filter at the same time so I could get
a baseline reading. Idle 14 psi / WOT 11 psi. I'm
adding a Van Aaken box today. Let you know what
the WOT pressure is tomorrow. I used a mechanical
gauge with no isolator.

CAREFUL....when you say..in your signature..."then I'm done!" Barbara Boxer may be calling you a liar in 6 months!
Two years ago...all I ever wanted was 300 HP...till I got there!
Jim Fulmer, now at 804 HP, once told his tranny guy..."I'm just looking for 250 hp"

I've got pics of my old setup off the bottom of the filter housing with the tapped banjo. Check my gallery, and my classifieds for the 5 piece high flow banjo kit, and an unused Holley Blue.
The only reason I say old setup, is because I replaced it all with the FASS II and -6an line.
