Fuel Plate Position Question

Fuel Plate Position Question
I have a TST #6 plate and my truck does not accelerate as quickly after I I am thinking that I should raise the governor arm so it hits higher on the plate so when it engages it will be on a more aggresive curve. Can I adjust the afc to give more fuel until governor engages plate. The star wheel is all the way in and the Fine adjustment is set to TST specs that came with afc spring kit. The boost line on the AFC, is it moving the diaphragm to give fuel or cut off the low boost fueling? I am willing to try any suggestions. Thanks for any advice.

I forgot to mention that before I installed the GSK I had a short puff of black smoke and now there is none. Will slding the plate forward increase the duration of low boost fueling or is it instantly shutdown when adequate boost is reached? Would it help to install the heavier spring that came with my afc kit? Thanks again.
