Fuel line question

When they run the larger fuel lines from the tank to the lift pump, do they also replace the fuel pick-up line in the tank?

No such thing as a stupid question.

Just no one with the answer has checked in yet.

I don't believe anything is changed inside the tank, all fuel line upgrades are between the tank and the pump.

Phox is correct. It's all that's needed (along with a bigger lift pump) to maintain fuel pressure up to 600, 700, even 800 hp!

Just as a side question, how much hp will the stock size (3/8"?) support before it hinders performance?

About 250 I'd say.
I don't really know, but I feel it is inadequate for stock.

It's really the banjos that limit fuel flow. The vulcan kit will make a big difference using 3/8 line by getting rid of the banjo fittings.

Vulcan uses 1/2" line.

Stock hoses are less than 3/8".

FASS comes with 3/8" and will handle...along with the different fittings....all you can throw at it.

If I remember correctly, my stock system started pulling below 5 psi FP at 340 hp. Went to Scotty's Max Flow System and it solved all problems up to 450 hp. His new design will go even higher, I believe, and also does a great job of protecting the life of lift pumps...I never had to replace mine for 60,000 miles, at which time I went to a FASS.

I had trouble finding a good answer to this as well. I belive you are wondering how to hook the new lines into the system. A 3/8 line will slide on the nipple that comes out of the tank after you pop the plastic clip off of it. Put a hose clamp on it and it won't move.

And no it is not a stupid question.

According to flow charts 3/8" id tubing will flow 22 gph with a .5 psi loss per ten feet. At 22 gph if you were getting 10 miles per gallon the 3/8" line could support a speed of 220 mph.
