Question Fuel Gauge Pegged on FULL....

Just on my second tank since I bought the truck. Filled it up a few days ago, drove 180 miles or so and the fuel gauge is STILL pegged on FULL ??

Do I now need to replace the sending unit or is there maybe a bad connection somewhere ??

BTW, truck in question is a 98 2500.

I remember hearing a couple of years ago that overfilling can cause your problem. I would guess the "float" might bounce loose, in time. Don't remember what was said on a solution from the others.

After the fuel level is down lay on your back and kick the tank or beat on it with a rubber mallet.
If this works don't fill your tank to the brim anymore.

Yes, what infidel said. Mine was stuck and I crawled under the truck and kicked the bottom of the tank. Did this two different time with success.
