Great tips on the Teflon Tape. I spent some time as pipe fitter, we used stuff called Jo-Mar Seal, AKA "Gimme the Green Stuff" I don't know if it's still available, but it would seal against any liquid, gas or chemical that one can think of.
Also a good point from Stohl, not something I thought, but make sense.
