Fuel gauge

My 96 Ram 2500 has a fuel guage that stays on full at all times. It started going bad by not showing correct fuel level. It would jump around now stays on full at all times. Is there a quick check to maybe run down the problim with out dropping the tank and checking the float.

Can use any help. Thanks.

That is the one and only fix for this problem.

Dodge fuel level sender assemblies are known to not last long.

Someone found a fix for the problem, rather than shell out $$ for the assembly,
but still requires removing it from the tank to perform the fix.
Either dropping the tank, or lifting the bed and going in from the top.

A search for "fuel level sender" might find this procedure.
