Fuel Filter??

Another strange thing I found on my truck today. The fuel filter on the left is the one I just pulled off the truck. The one on the right is the new WIX I bought at the store. The one I pulled off, which is a Car Quest p/n:86357, has some kind of plug in the bottom with no sensor. The WIX p/n:33402, I bought has a 1-2" diameter hole in it where a sensor would go. Which is the right one? The guy said that this is the one that their "computer" calls for. You know how the computers are at the auto parts stores are though...maybe it's just the people that work there. Any ideas? Thanks

I use the WIX on my 96. Do you have the " water in Fuel" sensor? If so then you should go with the WIX.

The filter on the right is correct. Odds are the previous owner of your truck either broke his WIF sensor, suspected it as a leak source (sometimes the sealing between the wires and the sensor detereorates and causes a loss of prime condition), or just plain got the wrong filter. Either way if you don't have the WIF sensor anymore you can get one from a Fleetguard dealer, or order one up from Geno's Garage for around $30 if I remember correctly. Definitely get the WIF sensor though, so that you can run the correct filter.

**On Edit: If you go through Geno's, you might as well order up some quality Fleetguard Oil and Fuel filters (they have great prices on them).

Ok, I'm gonna go ahead and order the WIF sensor so I can run the right filter. I don't think the wires are there, so it won't hurt anything to leave it unplugged, right?
