friend needs a clutch

i ahve a friend i just groung his plate to a 0 and his clutch is now slipping. he has a 98 12v 4x4 and he's only wanting to spend about $600. we were looking at the mu00990 con o from south bend it says it can hold up to 400hp. he plans on adding injectors and laser dv's do you think this clutch will hold it. are there any other clutches out there around that price that will hold more

I'd go ahead and get the ofe. My roommates got it in his 01 6spd and he's pushing 382/899 and beats the ever living tar out of it and it's never even hinted at slipping. Plus it'll give you a little more breathing room as far as adding power. 400hp in a 12 valve ain't nothing.

Southbend not only offers a great product but Fantastic customer service. Anything I ever own with a clutch will have a SB product in it.
Don't be sidetracked by the bargin basement clutch they may hold 400 once maybe twice but not time after time, the cheapness will find it way to the surface.

If I was gonna drop that kind of money I'd just save my pennies and get a clutch that I know will handle whatever I throw at it. That's what I'm doing with my auto. I could either slowly build it up and have to worry about various parts breaking as I build it or I could save my money, wait a little longer, and only build it once with parts that I know aren't gonna break any time soon.

I am going to upgrade from a con ofe clutch to a double disk in about a month. I would part with my con ofe for $500 plus shipping. It has about 20K miles on it right now.......I can check my log book to give exact mileage. I pull occasionally, but light (6k or less) and always start off in first gear to save on clutch wear. I have to find out from Peter at SB if the double disk comes with its own flywheel or if it uses my existing 13" flywheel that came with the con ofe. Does anybody know?
