how about edelbrocks shocks. I think they're called performer IAS or something like that? I'm talking about the red ones with black boots incase I was way off on the name. My dad had a set of these on his ford ranger and really liked them. we were both impressed with the ride improvement over stock. I hadn't really considered them before because of the cost.

The best edelbrock shock is poly performance's BBCS.
Your right the shocks are not ALL the same.
And a good solid price comparison
an 18'' King 2.5 remote resi $525
the same fox $495
the same sway-a-way is $350

18" stroke shock is way more than you'd typically wanna run on a Dodge. I run a 12" stroke on the front of mine with +6" ride height.
10-12" King 2.5, custom valved, will run you about $325/shock.

I called dave S @ poly performance. One of my dealers. I dont care if its what fits on a dodge. I am showing the pricing relationship.

Bilstien doesn't make anything longer than a 14.3" stroke shock in the 5100 series (actually, it's a 5125, BE5-6250-H5). The collapsed length of that shock is about 21", which doesn't leave you much compression travel. A 16" stroke shock would have a collapsed length of around 23".
If you're running a Skyjacker 4.5 kit, that means you have about 2-3" of additional ride height in the rear.....which means if you were running a 16" shock, you'd have less than 2" of compression travel before you blew the shock mount off and trashed the shock. If you're running the BE5-6250, you'd have about 3-3.5" of travel before you bottomed the shock out.
Are you sure you're running a 16" shock?????

I don't know where you buy your KINGs but as Conrad mentioned, that $525 price is about $200 high. A KING true "race" shock is higher though..

yeah pretty sure its a 16 but maybe 14 its one of the two. Thats what billstein told me. When I orderd the 5100's for a 6" lift out of ther epart numbers it didnt fit and I called and they said oh thats really for 2" lift. So I had to get a 5125 or some such modle. And both 4.5" lifts (sky jacker and BDS) that are in the 2 trucks are both about 6" of lift. Mine isnt leveling either its up the same hight in the back that the front went up.

I have them made for me now, but yeah, I buy a lot from Polyperformance when I need it NOW!!! They are great and take care of me very well, but unfortunately I've had to have a lot of my own stuff made now, for cost reasons. Business, you know...
Since you brought up comparisons between the shocks out there I'll point out what I know, and some of my opinions...
Kings are a great value, and I thing if you just call them up you can buy 2.5" prerunners for $325 each up to 18" stroke..
Since Fox started using chrome/stainless shafts I have started keeping my eyes open for King to catch on. I taked to Brett King a few weeks back and he said he would build me some shocks with stainless shafts FWIW.
Good luck getting the correct valving from a Fox 2.5 just sitting on someones shelf. KING builds per spplication so you save that labor..
I've heard that in the last year or so SAW has updated their pistons design, which I hope is true, because form a design standpoint every SAW racerunner I've taken apart has the absolutely worst design for a shock piston I could imagine. When you can see crease marks on the shims and the shocks had about 200miles on them, that ain't good..
Also, every SAW and Fox I've taken apart has no seal around the diameter of the dust seal cap. This lets moisture in to corrode inside of the dustcap/shaft sealhead. KING uses an o-ring on the OD...
These facts are comparing what I have seen. Designs change so I'm not swearing by what ships out "today" from SAW/FOX..
