found parts on rear axle plug

found parts on rear axle plug
checking the oil today and stuck to the magnetic fill plug, was two pieces of metal about 1/4 in. wide, 1/2 in. long and very thin. 
any one know what this might be or how much longer is going to make it. im leaving in a bit on a 200 mi trip to go tow a car back.
its a dana 80 in my 98
