Fog/Driving lights
I am looking to add some driving/fog lights to my truck.... I am looking for suggestions to get the best lights for the best price..... If anyone knows of good lights and good places to purchase them from, i would appreciate it.... The truck used to have PIAA lights mounted on the brush guard, so i would like to use the same mounting holes if possible. I think most any light would mount up there.... I drive a lot of dark roads, so the more light output the better.....

I'm running aircraft landing lights recommended to me by member Gitchesum. At 250w a piece, they're not really legal but you can see waaaaaaaaaaaay down the road. I don't fear deer any more since I can light up about 100 yards wide by 500 yards out. I can help you out with part numbers if you'd like. Oh yeah, these aren't recommended for use when under 25mph. I melted the retainers on the housings stopping in one place for 3 minutes.

Spend a few extra pennies and get a set of 6" lightforce units, with the combination filter on them. Excellent lights, very clean, white light.
The combo filters have a clear ring around the outside, and a difffuser in the middle, allowing for a wide spread pattern, while still having the long reflective range of a clear lens or "spot" beam.
Also, by simply rotating the housing, you can adjust the depth and breadth of the light pattern, somewhat like a mag-lite flashlight. Check on these units, lots of highway haulers up here using them, and they have become very popular with the pickup/car/suv set too.

I got the GE-4313 13v 250w landing lights for $19ea. from aircraftspruce.com - http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalo...ndinglites.php
The rest of the electronics were purchaced at tractor supply or autozone. Here's the list:
1 set Par36 metal tractor lights (4" dia.)
1 set of 30amp relays (the lights pull 19amps per bulb)
1 set of inline 30amp fuseholders and fuses
20 feet of 10gauge wire
about 20 female spade connectors for 10ga wire
6 round eyelet connectors for connecting the 10ga to the lights and for tapping the fusebox
I have schematics posted on this thread:
https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...threadid=40569
Let me know if you have any more questions. Total cost was around $75. I'm cheap.

Well if you know anyone in the train business, then you can always ask them for some spares...or if you know of some train tracks near you and there is a train parked at night.....
I have some lights off of a train ( ) and I'm in the process of hooking them up to my ranchhand. I think I'm gonna make a fiberglass housing and throw a switch between them and the battery..Still thinking of ways to wire'em up.
But if you can get some train lights....they are nice and bright for dark roads...

I also have the lightforce lights. I have the 170's and they are awesome but you cannot have them on when someone is coming toward you. They also have some 140 (6 inch) and 240 (9 inch) Best only used offroad or at least when no one is around as they are bright. I think I paid about 180 for the set. I have had them for 3 years and they are bar none the best lights I have ever had (though I certainly have not tried them all), quality is top notch. The mounting and aiming system they use is very good. They have taken direct rock hits and the lense seems to be indestructable. As mentioned they have different lense covers you can use to change color, diffusion and they also can be adjusted between spot and wider beam sort of like a maglight flashlight.
