update...

Well I got the pricing and worked on negotiating with them and here's the verdict...They can reduce the fluidampr to $525 (from $553.27) and they can't do anything with the ISSPRO since they say that is a special order item ...their pricetag on gauges is astronmical compared to Diesel manor and other online vendors...

I may have to bite the bullet and go with Fluidampr pn 960301 for '01 24V CTD and get gauges (kit) from an online vendor...the markup isn't as much on the fluidampr as it is compared to that of the gauge kit so I would be getting "lesser" of a bad deal there

This is a tough situation because it's the lesser of 2 evils situation...I returned this tonnueu lid (Leonard saw it...it just didn't look right on the truck) ...so I have to use the store credit...I'm thinking maybe even though the fluidampr may be best on a modded truck, there may be some advantages on a stock to moderate/mild truck down the road?? I hope.

Has anyone put one of these things on at the Cave? what kinda job is it? what does it require

Scott, TJ and I put on TJ's at the cave. Took about an hour or so. It is not that hard to do, now that we have done one I think we could get one done in about 30 min AFTER cool down time. Those things hold a lot of heat. We have everything that is needed as long as I am there with my drill.

Guages - I have ISSPRO Fuel, Boost (60#), and EGT in a windsheild mount and I really like them, they are out of the way and block the sun when it is above the rear-view mirror. I do not remember what I gave for them but it was not nearly what they are asking for them.

Let us know when you get the fluidamper and or the guages and I am sure that we can help you with the install.

They're not that hard to do. I had my factory dampner off when I removed my timing cover, only has four bolts holding it on and it slides right off, you don't need a puller. If your planning on making some descent power or reving the thing up towards 4k rpms, I'd look into getting their pin kit as well. It comes with 2 pins, a drill bit, and a jig to drill the holes in the crank. It should run you an extra $48 or so I think. Ofcourse, from that shop your dealing with, who knows Sent you a PM

You can get a fluidampr as cheap as $355, i would not get it from them Sunir.

even with a hot motor i can have your fluidampr on your truck in less than 15 minutes if you wanna put it on. you do not need the drill pin kit, it is not needed until pushing over 3600rpms, and over 500hp, and even then...its 4 rather large bolts, i did it for the extra insurance on my truck tho because I am well over 500hp now, and i turn up to 3800rpms when sled pulling

Sunir:

DTR Member "afoulk" is right, get the pin kit for the Fluidampr! I had to do that with mine due to the high RPM I am turning.

I'm not planning on spinning high RPM or anything like that...so I don't need the pin kit, do I ?...so without that, is it just a bolt on deal with that? I figure the most RPM I'll be turning is whatever the stock allows me to turn (I may get a smarty or quad XZT+ down the road)...I drive around 1K - 2k RPMs most of the day around town or on the hwy...if I need to merge or get on it I may go to 2.2K or over just a bit...but I'm not building this for drag or sled pulling...just want to build a nice daily driver with good fuel economy and mild mod upgrades.

$355 for a dampr TJ! man seems with this place there's no way I win any way I slice it ...looks like I gotta use the credit so I might as well try to minimize the hit...the place is Truck n' America which is not really a deisel perfromance place...they have a store and they deal mostly in trailers, caps, lids, and truck accesories...I bought a lid from them and returned it, since the lid was custom (painted etc...to match my truck and model/make) they said they could do a credit but not a refund ...so now I am stuck using their catalog (which I have to give them part numbers for prices) and have them order the parts.

As for exhaust and intakes they want $1150 for T304 and $760 for a T409 for MBRP and $1,165 and $699 respectively for Silverline...

Intakes Volant Cold Air Kit $433.33 and AFE Stage 2 $550...again

It seems like everything is high priced compared to online places...I don't know what else to do but try to minimize the hit, chalk this upto an expensive lesson learned before I found the DTR site and MD Chapter, and learn from this unfavorable situation

Sorry to side track but I really think the reason they started the drill pin kit is because several people (pullers) did not install the damper correctly and it flew of shearing the bolts.....hence the installer blaming the damper.

Good point Justin,....but I also think that the high RPM can be a factor there too. I know that Jimmy and Dale had a slight problem with theirs on the Pro-Street Truck.

Interesting that one would be this cheap from an authorized dealer.... They have minimum pricing levels and the one for your truck should be $414.95
