Gotta say that it also really quiets down and takes vibrations out of the driveline and clutch. The trans and clutch had no rattles now and it was very fun to drive.

About half way home it started raining and I got into the pedal coming off a ramp and in 4th gear the power kinda snuck up on me and next thing you know I am sideways and the tach is reading 3800 and the truck was just smooth as can be!

Well worth it for the folks who are up and over 450hp or so!
Glad to hear you like it

Can't hurt. You spent a lot on that tranny and you've got mods for higher rpms so it can't hurt. The difference can be heard and felt even at idle.

Last time this came up someone recommeneded getting a damper off a bigger cummins, but I never looked into it because I've already got mine =P

its basically, take the belt off the alt. pulley to make it loose, take 4 bolts out, replace damper with new fluidamper, put bolts back in, then tighten/tq them down using whatever method you can to keep the motor from turning while torquing. then put the belt back on...
I was going to asked if you pinned it. Any effect on your shifting?

Once we determined that the fan shroud did not need to come off, it took 20 minutes to install with an air ratchet,........btw whats a torque wrench?

did you pin yours?

I had a hell of a time getting the cordless right angle drill in, so i had spend about an hour fighting with the DSS bracket and then i ended up just cutting about 8" off the bottom of the shroud...it was alot easier and shouldnt hurt anything

Just remember to NOT use the Fluidampr POS wiring adapter to lengthen your harness for your tach sensor. The wiring adapters they send along are junk and will cause you problems in the long run.Its best you remove yours and lengthen it and solder all your wires together which will allow you a good signal and provide alot less hassles than the crap they send out.......Andy

Same performance improvements on a 1st Gen CTD. Seems much smoother at the top end.

Cummins uses this type of harmonic dampener (Viscous) on some of their engines stock. It's maintenance is covered in the Operation and Maintenance Manual, Industrial B3.9, B4.5, and B5.9 Series engines.

Don't they run it on the marine engines?

The later VP trucks like ours have the Cam sensor used for this stuff, so I think it's N/A...

you have to drill the holes in the front of the crank where the damper bolts on to accept the pins. its a pain to get a right angle drill in there, thats all.
