First time to tow with SB Con FE
There are constantly new threads coming up about which clutch people should get. Thought Id post up some facts and thoughts about towing my first "heavy to me" load with the FE.
Total wt of the truck, trailer and bulls was ~22k.
Clutch has 2k miles break in.
1st gear must be used to get the truck rolling or it would probably grab and kill the engine (not a bad thing, Im just used to using 2nd pretty often).
**Trying to back the load up is terrible, it feels like a jackhammer on your driveshaft, bucking bulls go crazy from the jerking**ONLY DOWNSIDE
Clutch held every bit of power my truck makes @ WOT with this load on (no pyro, but it sure seemed like it was making some serious EGT's on those long hills when I had the cruise set LOL)
Im overall very satisfied with the towing/driving/hotrodding that this clutch is capable of handling....very nice upgrade from the Con O.
(btw the Con O got toasted and the pilot bearing froze inside the flywheel which was then spinning on the input shaft)

so you have the one rated for 550HP? I'm looking at the 450HP or the 550HP south bend clutches think i may have to get the 550, but i have concerns on driveability. But i plan on haveing at leat 500HP or more so i think i have to get the 550. hows it drive? Can you park in a tight stall with it?

Thanks i don't think i have a choice anyhow, i know i'll tear up the 450HP Not that i'm up in horsepower yet but its only a matter of time and money. But i do feel a little safer buying the 550.
Just wondering, when you dump the clutch hows it light the tires?
